I hit my head a wk ago & I have amnesia, -black- eyes & head pain. What are the ramifications of concussions?
The black eyes are worse next to my tear ducts reaching my nose it’s really gross and weird, also black around the eyes and circles so black I look like a Tim Burton character, only my cheeks which are usually pale are quite pink like more blood is going to my head now.
I have Wilson’s disease & bruise easily, usually a couple of days after an initial injury instead of immediately so I figured if my forehead over the injury and swelling didn’t bruise then it should just be one of my normal concussions (I’m always getting injured during sports, paramedics, MRI’s everything).
The swelling that was on my head was square & I looked like sloth from the Goonies. My brain hurts – under the bone it hurts, seriously, & I’ve suffered from migraines since I was 8 years old so I know this is a very different type of pain.
I’m sort of too poor for doctor care, I already have like 50 k in debt from Pancreatitis last year so I really don’t know & can’t remember … stuff. Like, all my visual memories are gone but fractured photos, and just information so I vaguely recall stuff after a moment, enough to fake it through a conversation unless I really sit down for like 2 hours and try to remember the entire situation & retrace things over & over until it’s clearer yet still fuzzy, even then it’s just bits and pieces.
Also, I can’t even see well. I mean I have glasses for a reason but it’s much blurrier like my eyes are actually injured but the white part is fine, no bruising at all. It’s just like someone put eyedrops in and my eyes can’t adjust, in fact my left eye even feels sort of weird like there’s a pressure on it I’ve not had before.
Out of the dozen or so concussions I’ve had during my 23 years on this earth – I’ve never been in such immense pain this long, with amnesia -ever.
So… here I am, confused when I’m usually the one who is NEVER confused, unable to see practically at all in my left eye like vaseline has been smeared on it.
My muscles are excruciatingly sore for no reason it seems, including my jaw on the right side. I cannot open it or chew without pain & it’s beyond the worst pain I’ve ever had involving TMJ.
I know information but the rest is fuzzy, I know the gist of things really, it’s almost like the information I am privvy to concerning life is um… like I read it in a book – yet that book is real, and my life.
I feel really sick too, are these all attributable to concussions & ramifications now that I’m 23 & not a spry 18 year old or younger?
Is it possible that since I am older my body isn’t bouncing back so that all the concussions I’ve had my entire life have caught up to me causing severe long term damage?
Don’t tell me to "Ask a doctor." I can’t, the local ones won’t talk to me unless I pay 100 to 200 dollars up front where I am except my inept frazzled shouldn’t have a doctoral degree family friendly primary doctor & if this is just temporary & I’ll bounce back then I seriously cannot afford to put myself in more debt. I used to have perfect credit until my insurance refused to cover my pancreatitis treatment, I was in the ICU or whatever it’s called for a week. A week. Can you imagine the cost of MRI’s and the blood, and the consultations?
It’s sick I have to worry about that over my own health, but then again I’m not thinking too clearly, yet of course I speak relatively eloquently despite the injury leading no one to really care. "Oh she’s fine."
All day things have just been feeling crummier and crummier and I taste metal in the back of my throat, & I just want some people who have been through this before, preferably heavy sport playing people like myself (karate, wrestling, mountain biking, running [and falling], boxing, soccer [goalie, & defense = balls to the face no pun intended, though when I think about it that's pretty funny], ummm punches to my head, falling off of high surfaces on my head, car accidents, bike crashes breaking the inner foam of my BMX helmet in half yet only scratching the outside causing temporary unconsciousness, water tubing, getting elbowed in the face all the time from being 5′0 by tall people, just… you get the idea, I’m a real rough and tumble gal but I think I -ran- up the stairs full speed and then lost my balance slamming my head into the wall under the thermostat [my stairs make an awkward turn, but my cat under my feet when I race him up the stairs makes it even more awkward]).
So yeah, if you’re like me & very sporty & experienced this sort of thing (I used to be in the medical field but I cannot recall any of my training), please reply. No trolls, and anyone saying "see a doctor" is just not following the community guidelines because I’ve clarified that I am asking questions as to

It sounds, from your description, that you might be suffering from post-concussion syndrome (PCS). This is especially common after multiple concussions which can have an exponential negative effect. With PCS the symptoms either go away very slowly or not at all unless treated. I would highly recommend being evaluated by a neurologist who specializes in PCS and/or a facility/clinic that specializes in traumatic brain injury and has experience with this syndrome. Left untreated the symptoms could continue indefinitely. You can also get in contact with your state or local brain injury association for advice, support, information, etc. Here is a link to locations and contact information.

Hope this helps and best of luck.

Take time off and try to relax, the memories may come back, try get in touch with people who u may have forgotten that could bring back memories as well. Just relax, go to a spa and relax, exercise and sleep well, but seriously if all else does fail and no other answers here work, see a doctor
The following works for sinus, cold, running nose, sore throat and strep throat, when the throat is hurting, All types of headache and lot of other conditions.
It works for all digestive problems as well. The digestive problems that it cures are – IBS, constipation, stomach cramps, GERD, Acid reflux etc. Due to restrictions on length of answer I am not giving the reasons for the same.
Logically it should cure asthma as well. But one has to be more cautious while trying this out for asthma cure. One may start with 12 hour water fast period. I do not have experience on this. But the logic on which hte theory is built up supports it.
The most visible thing about sinus is swelling. In case of cold, sore throat, strep throat also swelling is there but to some extent less then it is visible in sinus.
Sinus, cold and sore throat usually happen in the following situations -
- Change of season, drinking lot of water after exercises, when u get up in the morning, after swimming, after having first sex, kissing, first time smoking etc.
The reason – During winters our body stores less water. This is evident from loss of water from body evident from frequent urination. Normally the body adjusts the water stored in the body automatically. But due to drinking water with meals or shortly after meals, the systems responsible for controlling the water level in the body stops working properly.
The same thing happens when u get up in the morning – When one drinks lot of water with dinner and sleeps shortly after dinner the body tends to store lot of water. The same is not adjusted suitably when one gets up in the morning.
The same thing happens after swimming the body is heated up and cooled at the same time. It a person allows sweating after a swimming session and does not drink water or does not take a shower in cold water sore throat may not happen.
After having first sex, kissing, first time smoking people tend to either overeat, drink lot of water and sleep immediately so sinus.
Lot of people in their questions mentioned that they were advised about eating ice cream to get rid of the sinus or sore throat. Yes sudden eating of the ice cream may force the body’s system to get up and start working. But that happens only 10 to 20 percent cases. And if that does not happen the sore throat or sinus is aggrevated.
The easier way out is to allow body to sweat for 1 or 2 hour by increasing the body temperature but not drinking water or other fluids for may be 1 hour after that.
The other easy way to control swelling is to give up water and all other liquids for 24 hours. In 24 hours there will be no significant dehydration to cause organ failure. But to be double sure one can stay indoors for 24 hours. This helps in lot of other ailments. One can do it when one is in indoors and does not have a conditions. It improves the immune system. It ensures that body’s control systems work properly.
In 24 hours the reduction in the fluids will be about 3 litres or about 5% of the total body weight of a normal adult.
Never the swelling due to sinus or cold and cough is more than 5% of the body volume.
During this period of 24 hours the lose of water from the body does not reduce even by 1% to offset reduced water intake.
The reduction in loss of body water thru urine or sweating starts after 48 hours in most of people. But to be on safe side giving up water and liquids for 24 hours will do the trick.
The reduced swelling will give immediate relief from pain. It will make is much more easier to eliminate the cough thru nose without any pain.
That will also improve the blood acid levels by about 10%. This makes changes at the cell level as well. Blood acid levels are the first line of defense against the infections.
So swelling gone, pain gone, cough moving out, infections taken care of. Now what remains in the body for the next change of season time. Obviously nothing.
So it has already given u long term relief from sinus. But in some cases one may get sinus during next change of season and may have to do this again. The reason is during change of season the body must adjust the water that is stored in the body. Due to some cell level changes the ability of the body to bring those changes is lost. But after 2-3 seasons that ability of the body will be restored and there will be complete relief from sinus.
There is one more thing that will ensure that u never get sinus or cold again in your life.
Drink 1 glass of water 1 hour before each meal. No other water or liquids on 4-5 days in a week. So on these days you do not exceed 3 glasses of water in 24 hours.
On rest 2-3 days do whatever u feel like.
Considering the weight of the situation, I wonder why a doctor was not considered. So, now, try looking for financial help like going through Medicaid in order to help your situation.
